A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
Last night did not go how it was supposed to! I was all pumped up for my 5km race with TBH and since it was a handicapped race I was in the first group to go - got about half a mile into it and my knee was pulling felt strange like I’d twisted it but thought it would away once I got into it. I thought wrong I could still feel it as we crossed the swing bridge and as I descended onto the millennium bridge it went completely the pain was unbelievable very sharp up the outside of my left knee but being silly me I tried to solider on and keep running but as I came into the last mile I couldn’t go on the pain was so sharp it brought tears to my eyes so I limped back to the start line :(
I must say everyone at Tyne Bridge were so lovely, so supportive an full of advice for me for the next couple of days! They kept me smiling when it was obvious I just wanted to cry!
I missed insanity this morning as I didn’t want to do anymore damage, I’d set my alarm for 5:20 but as I turned in bed the pain shot up my leg. I’m hoping by resting today and applying ice I’ll be ok for tomorrow’s session, it would be such a shame to drop out now when I’ve worked so hard!
I’ve been reading on the Internet (not sure if thats a good idea) and I think it could be ITBS, I suffered from this a bit after the Great North Run and I’ve tea that it can be brought on by doing lots of squats, lunges etc pretty much everything I’ve been doing at Bootcamp!
