Work in Progress |
A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
Well I’ve got my ROJO back - my running mojo! After cycling to and from Newcastle Parkrun yesterday and volunteering I started to feel more positive about the injury I’ve been frustrated by for the last 2-3 weeks. Cycling allowed me to exercise pain free and I got a bit off a buzz off it. It was fairly hard as quite windy and I had a few hills to contend with, I did 7 miles part of me wishes I had done more but I was hungry and breakfast was calling!
I really enjoyed volunteering at Parkrun and everyone should do it! Everyone says thanks as they run past and I even managed to get a laugh out of a few people telling them the sun was coming out. It wasn’t, yesterday on the town moor was cold, windy and rainy! Fantastic effort by all the runners and a record number at Newcastle Parkrun.
Today after lazing on the sofa all morning when I should have been doing college work (tut tut I know) I thought I would brave it and try a run. I tried to go out on Thursday last week but felt pain quite soon on so stopped. I was hoping with the extra stretching, the sports massage taking effect and my growing positive attitude would be enough to keep me going for half an hour. I set off and decided to just run 3 laps around my estate, then I wouldn’t be far from home if anything hurt and with it being about a mile around the estate I knew that would fill about 30 minutes.
I got through the first mile fine; no niggles or pains, as I went into the second lap I could feel a bit of a niggle but no serious pain so kept going. I got to 30 mins but hadn’t quite done 3 miles so kept going till I hit that 3 mile mark. I felt no pain but could feel a slight niggle on the outside of my knee. Got home stretched and iced and feel fine, normally I would be limping around the house all night! It feels like a huge weight has been lifted I CAN RUN! 3 miles was quite hard, alot slower than my normal pace and my bright red face returned but I know that I need to increase my fitness since being out with injury and I plan to run, cycle and swim to get me fit so that I can run the half marathon I have planned for March the whole way.
Total miles 3:04 Time 34:58 Total moving time 33:55 Avg pace 11:09
