Work in Progress |
A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
I’ve been off everything the last few days, I’ve had a bug that seems to be making the rounds so was stuck in bed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday not pretty but I did lose 5lbs so every cloud and that!
Even though I’m not fully back on food and my appetite is a bit surpressed (I’ve been living on beans on toast) I thought I would put the trainers on and head out for a session with TBH. I was just going to go out on my own but after talking myself round and then back out of it and then round again I headed over to Byker all stretched out and raring to go.
With many of the runners racing at the weekend in either XC relays or the Brass Monkey Half Marathon, group 5 did a steady run. We did 5 miles heading out to Jesmond, along Osbourne Road, down along Jesmond Dene, across the Armstrong Bridge and down Heaton Road back to Byker. I really enjoyed the run and felt pretty good the whole time, a little niggle in the knee but a quick stretch and it was sorted, I felt I could have run faster in parts and after reading a great blog yesterday by @BangsandaBun I learned a little saying that kept me from stopping on that last stretch to the Pool ‘I CAN push a little further’.
I’m currently looking for a short half marathon plan for the one I’m doing in March but it’s hard to schedule things when you have work/life/family/college commitments but having two sessions with TBH through the week and my long run on a Sunday, I just need to squeeze another run in somewhere else. There is also so much more I want to try to improve my fitness and make me a better runner but it’s just fitting it all in! I could easily not work! :)
So this weekends plan is to make a huge improvement at Parkrun and get a PB (I’m having someone pace me to help smash it), to go swimming on Saturday afternoon and Sunday will be a long run of 6 miles.
Have a great weekend!
