A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
Exciting news to share on this windy Saturday! Today I ran the 2nd Anniversary Parkrun and took 1min 54sec off my previous Parkrun PB. New PB of 29:03. I’m so happy to get under the 30min mark and cannot wait to keep getting that time down. The conditions were ok, but not great. It was quite windy and as I passed the 4km mark the wind was right in my face and I found it hard to get my breathing under control. I’m going to aim to run Parkrun about 1-2 times a month, I don’t want to get too hung up on my 5km time but it’s something I want to improve on and keep checking. I have to say a huge thank you to Michelle who paced me round and got me that time she was amazing encouragement!

After handing the tokens in the Parkrunners headed to RGS where the 2nd Anniversary celebrations were taking place. Lots of people had made cakes and brought treats along, I made raspberry jam flapjacks which seemed to go down really well. It was such an amazing atmosphere, everyone was buzzing and chatting to each other. It’s another reason I love running, such a feeling of community, like you’re with a group of friends (even though you don’t know half the people). Once everyone had made it over the celebrations began and after a short talk from Ian we had an inspirational talk by RunGeordieRun - Mark Allison (a fellow TBH). It was amazing to hear about his journey across America and his plans for Australia in 2013. Following that there was a presentation to hand out awards to volunteers and runners.
Still reeling from my PB this afternoon I thought I would treat myself to a shopping trip to the Metro Centre and see if I could bag a bargain in the last week of the sales. I ended up getting running stuff! A new pair of spikes (they were a bargain) and some hilly anti-blister socks.
My knee is a little bit niggly after pushing myself today but hoping to do 6 miles tomorrow, if it doesn’t feel good tomorrow I’ll postpone to Monday but I should be ok!
All in all a fantastic day!
