A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
This weekend I volunteered at Parkrun, I don’t want to run it too much as I’m trying hard not to get obsessed with times and just get the time on my feet in. It was the TBH grand prix winter series so there were loads of friendly faces out on the course who I shouted random encouragement to as they ran past! Loads of TBH did fantastic getting PBs especially when it was sooooo cold. My fingers were in agony for the rest of the day due to the cold! I ran half the course afterwards and back to my car - about 2 miles. I had planned a longer route but it was so cold I just wanted to get in a hot bath!
Sunday after lots of deliberation due to the icy weather and my fear of being slow, I arranged with another member of TBH to go for a long run. I ended up doing 7.17miles in 1hr 15mins which I was super happy with as it’s been ages since I’ve done a long run and with being off and on training due to injuries it’s nice to know I haven’t totally lost it! It was a nice route and a one I haven’t done since GNR training so was nice to revisit! I really enjoyed having someone to run with, we just chatted the whole way round and the time and miles just flew by - hopefully I can manage to persuade someone on each long run to come out with me!!
I’m starting to get into my healthy eating and exercise regime more and more and I think the more training I do the healthier I want to eat! Gym session this morning of 20mins on the cross trainer and a run/walk session on the dreadmill (knee was a bit niggly so didn’t want to push it). I was expecting a bit soreness off yesterday’s run but I felt great!
Tomorrow I will be back at harriers for a 2x1mile session which I’ve never done before so need to make sure I get my pacing right - I always start out too fast!
Saturday is my first cross country for TBH so I’ll be out practising in my spikes this week. Which reminds me I need to fit them!!
Have a good week :)
