Work in Progress |
A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
It’s been a very cold week in the North East and since I have the worst circulation it’s been an extra cold one for me! Monday I headed to the gym before work, I was surprised my legs didn’t ache after the long run on Sunday but I felt great - 20 mins interval session on the cross trainer and a mile walk/run on the treadmill. I tried a different gym than I normally go to and whilst it is a bit nicer decorated it felt a bit weird. Monday also consisted of healthy eating :)
Tuesday was a TBH session 3x1miles (was originally going to be 2x1miles) I was a bit worried about this session as I always find it hard to maintain a higher level of speed for a long period of time. The first mile interval was 8:49, felt happy with that and so we went on to the second which was just over 9mins the cold started to get to me and I had to stop to have a slight coughing fit. By the end of this mile I could feel it - my legs were achy and I found myself getting annoyed, then my leggings persisted on falling down every 2 seconds so kept stopping to pull them up (back of the wardrobe now)! I got back to the pool and had given up in my mind so felt a bit rubbish by the end of the session. After some kind words from some TBHers and some messages later on in the night I felt much better and more positive about the session. After all it’s the ones you find hard that make the difference isn’t it? I’ve been asking myself this question and I think it is because it not only makes you stronger as a runner but stronger mentally as well so next time NO GIVING UP!
Wednesday I broke my 7 day runstreak to rest - I was knackered!! I had a bad head and felt tired and had totally fallen off the healthy wagon so treated myself to a nice tea, hot bath and an early night!
Tonight is another session with TBH and the planned session is 7x2mins which I’m hoping I can cope with and I’ll give it my all! I think I’m better at the shorter spurts of speed rather than the longer ones, well I’ll soon find out …
First cross country on Saturday for TBH and a long run on Sunday to end the week with :)
