A journey of training and hopefully transforming! After taking up running mid 2011, I fell in love with it and hope to share my passion with others! When I started I couldn't run a bath! But now I can say I have completed several races including the Great North Run and have signed up for many more in 2012. |
ROJO (running mojo) is a funny thing it seems to come and go with me but now that I feel like I have it back it’s not going anywhere!
Sunday was long run day and it just didn’t go well at all! I felt really sick and really tired and I had to keep stopping as the sickness was just getting worse and worse. I was hoping that once I started running it would disappear and I would feel fine but this was not the case. I managed 6 miles but found the run really hard and was sick for the rest of the day. I felt awful and not just because I felt sick but I felt like I had let my running buddy down and myself for not getting the 8miles I had planned done!
Since this happened I’ve been avoiding running a little bit only doing a short one here and there worrying that I’ll just feel rubbish when I get out there. Sunday knocked me back a bit and had me doubting whether I can become the runner I want to be. I think we all have times like these and I’m lucky to know such amazing people that keep me from focusing on the negatives and moving forward.
Since Lent has just begun I have decided to try and give up negative thinking - I never considered myself a negative person but when it comes to believing in myself I think I am really negative and this needs to change if I’m to move forward!
On Tuesday I got back on my bike and was lead bike marshall for the TBH Winter Grand Prix 5km race. I really enjoyed being back out on my bike and as people came back through the finish line I started to feel a bit jealous that I wasn’t running, I had planned to run the next day but due to timing issues I missed out on it.
Tonight is a TBH session of 2x8mins which I’m a little wary of as I’ve never done it before but I’m going to give it my all! I’ve logged all my training on fetch everyone and looking back this month I’ve ran 58miles which I don’t think is too bad so that’s given me a little boost. I’ve also arranged to meet some fellow TBHers down the quayside tomorrow morning for an early run and I’ve planned my exercise for the next week to keep me on track.
13 weeks to go till Edinburgh!
